The Story of Maharana Pratap
Birth and Family
Maharana Pratap was born on 9 May 1540 in Kumbhalgarh Fort, Rajasthan.
Father: Udai Singh II
Mother: Jaiwanta Bai
He belonged to the brave Sisodia Rajput clan and was known for his courage from childhood.
Becoming the King
In 1572, after the death of his father, Maharana Pratap became the ruler of Mewar.
At that time, the powerful Mughal emperor Akbar wanted all kings to accept his rule. Many kings agreed, but Maharana Pratap refused.

The most famous event in his life was the Battle of Haldighati.

What happened?
Maharana Pratap fought bravely with a smaller army
His loyal horse Chetak saved his life
Even though the battle was tough, he never surrendered

Chetak was injured but still carried Maharana safely across a river before dying. This shows loyalty and bravery.

Return and Victory
With time, Maharana Pratap regained many parts of Mewar.
He rebuilt his army
He captured important forts again
He made Chavand his new capital
By 1585, he had recovered most of his kingdom (except Chittorgarh).
Death
Maharana Pratap died on 19 January 1597 at Chavand.
Even his enemies, including Akbar, respected his bravery.
